The A/V Technical Director is responsible for the oversight and management of all A/V related needs, property, and volunteers for worship and other worship-related activities.

Job Description

The Director needs to demonstrate the following:

1.   Willingness to serve God through providing an innovative and enhanced worship experience for this community of the United Methodist Church.

2.   Coordinate/schedule/train AV support volunteers for all worship services and other functions requested. Must know how to delegate and communicate clearly.

3.   Create and deliver enticing worship presentations in conjunction with the pastor and other worship leaders.

4.   Clearly communicate your faith journey.

5.   Provide encouragement and support to volunteers as needed.

6.   Possess knowledge of analog and A/V digital systems, and a working knowledge of lighting systems.

7.   Have the ability to select appropriate video backgrounds/pictures to enhance sermon topics and worship experience.

8.   Have working knowledge of computers and the willingness to learn (if not already possessing the knowledge of) the following software used for worship preparation and presentation: Planning Center Online, ProPresenter 6, and Microsoft Office.

Tasks

1.     Required: Attend practice sessions of Cross Connection musicians and all worship services (both Cross Connection and Traditional).

2.   Attend or schedule volunteers for occasional special events that require the use of AV equipment. (i.e. extra services during Lent, Easter, Christmas, etc. and possibly weddings, funerals and memorial services especially when projection or other A/V tech is required. (Additional pay for some services available.)

3.   Produce the proper formatting of slide shows for Worship services ie: spacing and number of words per slide, and present a finished product free of common errors such grammatical, typographical, and omissions.

4.   Set up and install (as can reasonably be expected) equipment such as microphones, speakers, video screening, projectors, video/audio monitors, recording equipment, sound board, mixing board, wires, cables etc. for worship and events.

5.   Monitor/mix sound feed to ensure quality. (currently an analog system)

6.   Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues and media system problems.

7.   Monitor and manage equipment that needs to be sent out for repair, as needed, in conjunction with Trustees

8.   Clean audio and video equipment, and store properly.

9.   Perform duties on location (worship and major events) or assign volunteers as possible.

10. Set up and operate sound and lighting equipment.

11. Maintain and monitor inventory of equipment, and report equipment needs to Trustees.

12. Maintain a “clean” look and appearance of A/V tech area.

13. Create, monitor, and give leadership to begin and end livestreaming of services. (provider: Boxcast)

14. Attend workshops to further knowledge and abilities annually.

15. Attend weekly worship planning meetings as possible (same day as rehearsal)

16. Provide direction and support for the purchase and installation of a new digital sound system.

Supervisors:

Cross Connection Worship Leader and both the Senior and Associate Pastors.

Work experience requirements

Two or more years’ direct experience with church A/V system management

Two or more years’ experience in a staff-oriented (volunteer or professional) church leader position

Education requirements

All PA state background checks and appropriate clearances.

Attendance at a reputable sound school or commensurate experience is desirable.

Spiritual requirements

Professing and active member of a Christian church (does not have to be Lehman nor Methodist)

Agree, for the sake of the Church, to adhere to the 2016 Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church.
