General Description
Rooftop Church (rooftop.org) is a medium-sized church in an inner suburb of St. Louis, MO. We are an interdenominational Christian church rooted in Biblical orthodoxy but also valuing humility, honesty, and humor. The Rooftop Pastor of Families is a full-time paid ministerial position. The Pastor of Families will be responsible for the Children and Youth ministries. This will include managing and developing leader and volunteer teams, planning the schedule and calendar, and working with the staff and elders to integrate both ministries into the life of the church. Additionally, the Pastor of Families will support families with children at Rooftop through training, coaching, and counseling parents. (Both the Rooftop Kids and Youth ministries are currently being led by hard-working and stable volunteer teams who are eager to support and work with new leadership.)
Rooftop Kids
· Plan and oversee Sunday morning children’s classes
· Manage, recruit, and train teachers and volunteers.
· Lead the Rooftots deacon team and assigned areas: room management, scheduling, supplies, finances
· Research and select curriculum
· Plan additional events for kids and families
· With the staff, promote the ministry to the church and community
· Provide additional Rooftots services for special worship events
· Maintain high ministry standards
· Look for opportunities to grow and improve the ministry
Rooftop Youth
· Plan and oversee weekly middle school and high school youth meetings
· Manage, recruit, and train leaders and volunteers
· Lead the Rooftop Yth deacon team: event planning, security and check-in, discipleship, finances, worship
· Plan additional events for youth
· With the staff, promote the ministry to the church and community
· Connect with youth individually and socially
· Maintain high ministry standards
· Look for opportunities to grow and improve the ministry
Additional
· Work with staff and elders to integrate children and youth into the overall life of the church
· Support families with children at Rooftop through training, coaching, and counseling parents.
· Assist the staff in the general execution of ministry goals.
· Maintain regular presence in office as requested by the LP.
· Meet with church elders as requested by the elders for purposes of encouragement, prayer, support, and accountability.
· Meet with LP and staff weekly for purposes of communication, development and discipleship.
· Be available to preach occasionally or regularly, according to needs and giftedness.
Development
· Pursue personal development opportunities (through prayer, reading and mentoring) to grow in wisdom and ability to service more effectively as a Christian leader and pastor.
· Seek out professional development opportunities to grow in key gifts: leadership, teaching, etc.
· Continue reading and studying as a leader of God’s people.
Congregational Life
· Remain involved in the life of the congregation through social functions and attendance at all fourth-floor Rooftop events and as many other events as possible.
· Remain committed to the purpose and values of the church: teaching, worship, evangelism, community, service and prayer.
Integrity
· Model Christian maturity in personal, family, and professional life.
Qualifications
· Completion of bachelor-level theological and ministry education. Masters-level preferred.
· Passion for youth and children’s ministry, and some experience leading either of these ministries preferred.
· High sociability and love for people, and able to connect with all kinds of people across the demographic spectrum.
· Ability to preach a bonus.
· Organized and responsible and a track record of strong and effective leadership.
· History of submission to church leaders and elders.
· Reputation for integrity, servanthood, spiritual fervor, and emotional maturity.
· An overall eagerness to learn and grow.
· Honest and forthcoming concerning patterns of sin and past history.
· Committed to basic Christian theology and Rooftop’s Statement of Faith.
· Committed to Rooftop’s purpose, practices, and personality as a church.
· Model Christian maturity in personal, family, and professional life.
Salary
· Competitive Compensation & Salary. Retirement program after two years.
