Strategic Content Writer
Status: Part Time (approx. 24 hrs/week)...The role could expand to Full Time for the right candidate with additional skills.
Reports to: Advancement Director
Location: GN office in Kennett Square, PA with ability to work remotely. Due to the frequency of on-site visits, applicants should live within a 40 mile radius of GN.
Job Objective
The Advancement Copywriter will craft compelling, engaging content that inspires generosity, enabling Good Neighbors to advance its mission.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Advancement Director, the successful candidate will create and edit content for a variety of purposes including grant applications, newsletters, reports, etc. While much of the focus will be on grant-writing, the candidate does not need to have prior grant-writing experience. Good Neighbor’s Advancement Director is an expert in this area and is willing and able to help a gifted writer learn and grow their grant-writing skills.
Additionally, the position will involve interviewing clients and volunteers to glean compelling content that highlights Good Neighbor’s impact. The successful candidate will have a strong, mature commitment to Jesus Christ and will be actively serving in their church and local community.

Essential Responsibilities
- Complete grant proposals and associated follow-up reports in a timely manner
- Coordinate and conduct thoughtful interviews to glean first-hand accounts of the impact GN had on homeowners, volunteers and the community
- Proofread and edit GN’s content across diverse platforms (emails, newsletters, social media, annual report, white papers, etc.) ensuring the vision and messaging is clear and consistent
- Proactively communicate with the Advancement Director regarding projects and responsibilities
- Actively research the needs and expectations of granting foundations, so that synergy between GN’s mission and the foundation is clearly identified
- Display a teachable, curious, ever-learning attitude that empowers a personal drive for continuous improvement
- Inspire action through compelling copywriting

Required Qualifications
- Mature Christian faith that fuels a passion to serve others
- Gifted, creative and persuasive writer. Able to craft engaging content with vision and grammatical expertise.
- Wise decision maker with sound judgement and spiritual discernment
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Active commitment to personal and professional growth...teachable, humble, and willing to learn
- Works well with others in areas that are not fully defined or refined
- Punctual and timely, able to meet deadlines
- Self-motivated. Takes initiative and creatively identifies solutions
Bonus Qualifications
- Bachelors in Writing, English, Communications or related field
- Previous grant writing experience
- Strong existing network with organizations, churches, schools, etc. in our region
